Hi! My name is Maria João Gonçalves, I’m from the Serra da Estrela and I’m passionate about relationships — the ones we build with others and with ourselves. I see us as complex individuals and unique universes, who are part of so many other universes — the family, the couple, society.
This view of mine was developed and deepened in Coimbra, during my integrated master’s in Clinical and Health Psychology, in the area of Systemic Psychotherapy. I’m very curious and eager for knowledge and, for that reason, my training has been diverse over the last few years in the areas of pregnancy and parenting and of family and couples therapy, with an advanced specialisation in each of these areas. However, my interests are varied, also including adult ADHD, personal development and chemical and behavioural addictions.
As a psychologist, my mission is to create a safe space for those who come to me, whether in an individual, family or couple context, with an attitude of genuine curiosity and respect for the individuality that each of us has (and how valuable it is!). In addition, I seek to help my clients improve their relationships, because they are a fundamental and defining part of our well-being and quality of life! Essentially, I work to be a facilitator of the changes that life brings us.
